Over 35 Years Of Teaching Music

Originally from Northamptonshire, I first started to play the piano at the age of 9 and had finished all my ABRSM exam training by the age of 16. I took part in several master-classes for solo and ensemble performances as well as performing a number of piano concertos with the youth orchestras in the late 1970s.

At the age of 19, I was auditioned for a place at the London College of Music by W.S Lloyd Webber and began a performer’s course in 1979. I attained a Fellowship, Licentiate (teachers) diploma as well as the Associate diploma in piano performance.

Extensive Musical Experience

I performed in many capacities as a soloist, accompanist and with the London College of Music as well as other amateur orchestras – taking part in competitions and festivals.

Other venues include the Purcell room and lunchtime recitals in the foyer at the Royal Festival Hall.

I studied under Philip Jenkins, Peter Carpenter and the then Deputy Director John Pelham-Burn. I have not performed so much recently, teaching takes so much of my time, but I have this performing experience.

I taught at the London College of Music at the Saturday Junior Music School, where talented young musicians came to enhance their studies. As a Professor I also taught at the college.
